Twice a month on Monday night at 6pm, the Board of Directors meets to discuss ongoing projects of the UVSS. See below for agendas and minutes.
Agendas
The UVSS keeps a record of all decisions made at its Board meetings. If you want to keep an eye on the UVSS and see what legal, financial and political decisions directors are making on your behalf, this is a good place to start. And, feel free to attend a Board meeting anytime! Board meeting usually take place every other week on a Monday at 6pm. Check out our schedule below for more details.

Annual General Meetings
The UVSS hosts two regularly scheduled Annual General Meetings every year, one in each semester. For the 2026-2027 term, these meetings will be held on October 27 and February 25.
More details will be provided closer to the dates.
UVSS Committees
Whether you want to plan awesome parties, make the SUB more sustainable, or if you actually are a policy wonk – there is a space for you. And, members of our committees actually go out and do stuff on campus and in the community other than just sit in a meeting room and talk.

Campaigns Committee
Chair and contact: Director of Campaigns & Community Relations
Develops and implements campaigns and speaker events on post-secondary education, public transit, climate justice, anti discrimination, affordability, sexualized violence prevention, campus sustainability, mental health, and other social justice issues as decided by the Campaigns Committee.
This committee is an excellent opportunity to learn to lobby government, hone your advocacy skills and represent the student body on important issues.
Clubs Council
Chair and contact: Director of Student Affairs
With over 200 clubs on campus, we have a working meeting to make sure everyone has funds and administrative support to function.
At Clubs Council we ratify and oversee UVSS Clubs. establish semester budget allocations; and allocate special projects grants.
Events Committee
Chair and contact: Director of Events
Organizes Campus Kick Off and other campus events; collaborates with other UVSS portfolios, advocacy and affiliated groups, and the wider community to support their events.
Course Union Council
Chair and contact: Director of Student Affairs
Course Unions are department specific events and resources to support students’ academically and professionally.
Council ratifies course unions; discusses academic issues; establishes budget allocations; allocates Travel Pool and Publication Grant.
Finance & Operations Committee
Chair and contact: Director of Finance and Operations
Develops the UVSS annual budget; reviews financial statements; makes recommendations on the allocation of funds to the Board of Directors.
Policy Development Committee
Chair and contact: Director of Outreach & University Relations
Makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on changes to UVSS policies, constitution, bylaws, and internal structures.
Member Outreach & Engagement Committee
Chair and contact: Director of Outreach & University Relations
Promotes the UVSS and its initiatives to students and the community; creates and oversees the distribution of UVSS swag; and brainstorms diverse and engaging ways to connect with UVic undergraduates.
International Student Relations Committee
Chair and contact: Director of International Students
Represents all international students and coordinates advocacy efforts and inclusive events; lobbies important issues such as lowering unnecessary tuition spikes, keeping student fees transparent, along with increasing necessary social, health, and financial supports; and collaborates with other UVSS groups and portfolios on intersectional issues.
Advocacy Relations Committee
Chair and contact: Director of Student Affairs
The primary liaison among UVSS Advocacy Groups and the Board of Directors. Serves as a forum for Advocacy Groups to work collectively on issues on campus such as, but not limited to: sexism, racism, homophobia, and classism.
