This year’s theme is Let’s Talk About Sex, which is all about breaking the silence and empowering you and your friends to talk openly about sex, safety, harm reduction and respect.

DAY 1
CANCELLED: Gender-Based Violence in Indigenous and Queer Communities
Dr. Percy Lezard is currently a critical Indigenous scholar at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Dr. Lezard describes it as their responsibility as an Indigenous researcher and Indigenous thinker to disrupt mainstream models of knowledge extraction. In Gender-Based Violence in Indigenous and Queer Communities with Dr. Lezard you will indulge in storytelling about two-spirit, trans and queer relationships while enjoying free snacks!

The UVSS is hosting groups both on and off camus to help YOU ifnd resources for Sexualized Violence prevention and support, as well as harm reduction resources!

Free Naloxone Training
The UVSS is hosting a Naloxone training workshop on Oct 29th in SUB Upper as part of Sexualized Violence Awareness Week! For more information about Naloxone and our training, please visit uvss.ca/safer-use/.

This year, UVic’s Sexualized Violence Response Policy comes under review. Bunni Williams, your director of Outreach and University Relations is here to start the conversation about how your university can better protect you when it comes to sexualized violence.
Embodying Consent: Keynote & Screening
Tara Teng, an Embodiment Coach and sexualized violence advocate, leads a discussion on consent and healing, followed by a FREE screening of “She Said,” the gripping story of journalists exposing Harvey Weinstein’s crimes. Show your OneCard for FREE entry to this event! Empowerment, truth, and justice await.

Consent Workshop
This workshop is intended to provide folks with the information, skills, and opportunity to understand and practice consent. Through activities and discussion, we will bust myths about sexualized violence and gender, explore the concept of rape culture and learn about consent (what it is, why it’s required, how to practice it). Join AVP in SUB Upper on Oct. 30th from 2:30-4:30 pm.
Slay the Night: Drag After Dark
Get ready for a night of fierce performances, dark glamour, and unapologetic fun. This Halloween, join the UVSS for an all- ages drag variety show where kings and queens rule and the scary meets the spectacular.
