Meet The Facilitators:
Art for the Heart Support Group Facilitator:
Hi there! My name is Jasmine and this is my second year studying psychology at UVic. I have a BA in political science from Concordia University, and am excited to shift my focus towards learning about mental health and emotional wellbeing; topics that are very near and dear to my heart. As someone who has felt (and sometimes still does feel) unsure of what direction their life is headed, I hold empathy for those who have anxiety for what their future may hold. I plan on pursuing a masters in counseling, and hope to work as a school counsellor at the secondary school level in the future. I am originally from Ottawa and lived in Montreal for 7 years prior to moving to Victoria (oui, je suis bilingue!). I love spending time outside, drawing with markers, collaging, keeping up with current affairs, listening to podcasts, going on walks and spending time with friends & family. I hope to see you at an Art for the Heart meeting alongside fellow UVic students, where we can take a breather, and let our creativity flow!

Hello! I’m Simone (she/her)! I’m in my fourth year of psychology here at UVic. I’m excited to be co-facilitating the Art for the Heart support group this semester! I truly believe in the importance of self care and building meaningful connections, which can be difficult to prioritize as a student. I’m looking forward to creating a warm and welcoming space for fellow students to take care of their mental wellbeing with a creative outlet. I love a good chat and craft!
Depression Support Group Facilitator:
Hi everyone! My name is Kelsey, and I use she/her pronouns. I am in my fourth year studying psychology at UVic and am currently applying to masters of counseling programs. I understand how difficult it can be to navigate mental health challenges as a busy student, and I am grateful for the opportunity to create a non-judgmental, welcoming, and supportive space where we can connect over shared experiences. Having experienced my own challenges with depression as a student, I know how challenging it can be to navigate alone – my hope is to foster a sense of community where students can share and grow together. In my free time I love to cook/bake, explore new hiking spots on the island, and go for runs along the beach. I am always looking for new ways to destress and practice self care, so I’m excited to learn from all of you as well. I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing this space together!

Hi!! My name is Simran! I’m a 25 year old 3rd year psych student. I love reading, traveling and learning about new things! Most of all I love meeting people and getting to know them deeper. It’s been a long and hard journey getting to the place I am at today and it has been a rewarding worthy journey. We all have our individual ups and downs and it would be great to have someone to talk to. So, I hope to be part of a team that creates an environment of sharing, listening, empathy and understanding through the peer support!
Anxiety Support Group Facilitator:
Hi, my name is Avery (she/her)! I graduated this year with a BA in Psychology from UVic and am currently taking a gap year as I work toward applying to graduate programs in counseling psychology. I’m really excited to be an anxiety support group facilitator this year. As someone who has experienced anxiety myself, I’m passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where we can share, connect, and explore strategies that help us thrive. In my free time, I love skiing, reading, climbing, baking, and spending time with friends. I recently studied abroad in the Netherlands, and although I was nervous about such a big change, it ended up sparking my travel bug! Now I’ve got a growing bucket list of places I’d love to visit, so I’m always open to new travel suggestions!

Hi! My name is Brooke and I use she/her pronouns. I am from the Comox Valley and am currently in my third year of the Psychology program here at UVic. When not studying, you can find me at the beach, baking cookies, or at a cafe! I’m passionate about mental health and am eager to help create a nonjudgmental, inclusive space for fellow students to share their experiences. I understand how university can be an overwhelming environment and believe that having a support network can be very helpful in such busy times. Come say hi!
