Meet The Facilitators:
Hello! My name is Cara. I am a recent graduate from UVic, with a degree in sociology and environmental studies. I use she/her pronouns and identify as a cisgender, able-bodied, white woman residing on the lands of the Qayqayt peoples.
For the past three years, I’ve volunteered at the Peer Support Centre (PSC), where I also co-facilitated a previous support group. Anxiety has been a longstanding challenge for me, and I’ve recently begun taking concrete steps to address it and learn to better cope. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned and to also learn from everyone in the group. I strongly believe in creating spaces that foster community and connection to address mental health challenges. Knowing that you’re not alone can make a world of difference. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and going for walks and hikes.
Hi! My name is Aubrie, my pronouns are she/her, and I am a fourth-year psychology major with a minor in education.
I grew up in a rural community in Alberta, but I am loving living the island life! I am passionate about mental health advocacy and promoting a healthy holistic lifestyle, which is my motivation for volunteering with the PSC and being an anxiety group facilitator. In my free time, I play and coach ringette here in Victoria, and I love all things outdoors: you can often find me hiking, backpacking, camping, biking, surfing or skiing with my friends!
