Mark your calendars! The Pride Annual General Meeting will be taking place on February 2, 2023, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
We are exclusively inviting current students in good standing to participate in the Pride AGM, either by joining us in person at the Michelle Pujol room or online via Zoom. Community members and non-voting members may join the livestream to show their support.
During this meeting, we hope to establish the foundation for queer students to have a place and a community to be – here is the AGM agenda that will give you an idea on what we will be talking about then.
Organizing the AGM is a challenge that we happily took on because we believe that a fresh start was necessary in order for 2SLGBTQIA+ students to have the services and infrastructure that they deserve. As part of the UVSS, our queer advocacy group is tasked with using its funding to provide services to 2SLGBTQIA+ students, who should have an equal say in how these resources are distributed.
We know that the queer community struggles with having spaces to just be and to find each other. In addition to providing services, our new on-campus queer collective will be a welcoming space that is a healthy alternative to the ways 2SLGBTQIA+ folks have been historically forced to gather. This group is here to ensure that students who are part of this community get the best shot possible at setting themselves up for happiness, wellness, and success. We believe that your attendance in the Pride AGM will help us hear how we can make a fresh start.
